High School Students Explore the Universe with Machine Learning

Students from the Information Technology Department at Diyarbakır Kayapınar Vali Gökhan Aydıner Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School examined the role of machine learning in the exploration of the universe as part of a special program. The program was presented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serpil YALÇIN KUZU, a faculty member of our department.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. YALÇIN KUZU shared with the students the principles of machine learning and current information on how this technology is used in fields such as astronomy and cosmology. The presentation focused on the capacity of artificial intelligence techniques to make inferences about the structure of the universe through big data analysis.

Such events aim to increase high school students' interest in science and technology and encourage them to engage in interdisciplinary work. The students' participation in the program and their questions on the subject demonstrated that the event achieved its goal. This visit is expected to develop young people's scientific thinking skills and inspire them in their future academic or professional pursuits.
